Welcome to Cork's Weekly Newsletter!

Well the Sox are in the World Series hunt for the 5th time in 6 years…the Bruins are already playing exhibition games…the NBA Champion Celtics start training camp in Newport this weekend…and the Pats have a bye week to get over that embarrassment last week. Mix in some cool nights and Oktoberfest beers an d you can see why this is my favorite time of year.

Speaking of Oktoberfests we are proud to be the only retailer to take part in the Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce Oktoberfest on Tuesday night October 7th from 5 to 7 PM at Mansfield Crossing. There are going to be 20 local restaurants there including Davio’s…Stoneforge…Trattoria Della Nona…Bertuccis…Qdoba …Fridays to name just a few. We will feature and taste our large selection of Oktoberfest/Pumpkin/Autumn beers to help wash down all the great food. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door with proceeds going to the food pantries of Mansfield, Norton, and Foxboro. Check our website (corksfinewine.com) for a complete list of restaurants and where to purchase tickets.

We don’t have a beer tasting scheduled for this week but we will be sampling the brand new Budweiser American Ale next Thursday. We do have a rookie to our weekly wine tastings this Friday night from 4 to 7, as E ric from Baystate Wines will be here to sample some of his excellent wines. He will start you off with a delicious Sauvignon Blanc from the Marlborough region of New Zealand called Alan Scott. The next 3 are all new wines from 1 of my go to favorite producers, Peirano Estate. “The Other White” is a blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier. Next up are 2 new reds for Peirano, Malbec and Petite Sirah. Last but not least is another favorite Stephen Vincent Crimson.

For those regulars of our website I’m sure you’re familiar with our “weekly mystery discount”. I usually make you say something stupid or embarrassing to the cashier to get a 10 to 20 % discount on whatever items we’re featuring that week. From time to time I will put them in the newsletter just to let you know we’re still doing them and so more of you can take advantage of them and embarrass yourself and our cashiers a bit more often. So this week to celebrate the Redsox latest world series run we will take 20 % off Sauvignyooooouuuuuk Blanc, Captai n’s Cabernet, or Vintage Papi. Just be wearing some form of Redsox gear or mention the fact that the Sox are in the hunt in October and the Yankees are not!!! To receive this week’s mystery discount. These wines make great Christmas gifts and we sold a ton around the Holidays last year so be sure to grab a few bottles while they are still around.

So brace yourself for a little Nor’easter and Patriots bye week and try to have a good weekend.
