Cork's Heat Wave Newsletter - Customer Appreciation Day coming soon!

Welcome to Cork’s heat wave newsletter. It sure is a scorcher today, and it may even hit 100 in the next couple of days. I hope you are all keeping your cool during these dog days of summer. We’re here to help with delicious summer beers and malternative beverages that just go down so smooth when it’s hot. We also have a ton of “Ready to Drink” concoctions to quench that thirst… many of them cold and ready to go in our alternative cold box in the last aisle. Don’t forget the summer whites…roses…and even some red wines that are perfect for the barbecues and picnics.

Speaking of barbecues, we are just a little over 8 days away from our 5th Annual Customer Appreciation Day. It is next Saturday, July 30th from 1 to 4 PM. We are still piecing together the lineup but will have some new liquor items…great summer beers/malternatives…and some new interesting wines for you to sample. In addition to that we will have cheeseburgers and hotdogs…chips and snacks…tons of FREE STUFF…and our famous Cork’s Raffle at 2:30 PM. We got a bunch of cool stuff for the raffle (let’s see what is still here on the actual day!) and we’re adding more everyday. This is always a blast, so make sure you leave that day open to come join us.

We have our good friend Yanni from Opa-Opa Bewing Company out of Southampton, MA tonight (Thursday) from 4:30 to 7 for this week’s beer tasting. He will be pouring all fresh 64 OZ. growlers of his delicious local brews. Yanni will have Red Rock Ale…IPA…Watermelon Ale…and Blueberry Lager….mmmmm perfect for a hot summer day! We will take an additional 10 % off these already inexpensive ($6.99 everyday) beers. So come help support the local guys and try some fresh Opa-Opa growlers tonight!

I am not going to have a wine tasting tonight, or until after the big Customer Appreciation event. But I think I will have a bottle or 2 open of some refreshing summer wines if you twist my arm in the slightest. Don’t forget we are your last stop before Great Woods for all your concert needs. We have coolers…red concert cups...and of course all your beer, liquor, and wines.

So if you’re going to Furthur (living Dead members) tonight…the Rockstar Festival on Friday…311 on Saturday…or Tim McGraw on Sunday, just show us your concert ticket and get a free 5lb. bag of ice or 1 of the new Polar “Summer Flavors” 1 liter seltzers!

Stay cool, my friends!

Special "Mix 6" beer tasting tonight with Marc...Customer Appreciation coming soon!

Welcome to Cork’s weekly newsletter. I hope you are all enjoying the beautiful weather. We are just a little over 2 weeks away from our 5th Annual Customer Appreciation. We will have wine, beer, and liquor tastings…hamburgers, hotdogs, and snacks. We will give away tons of free stuff and have our famous “Cork’s Raffle”. You will also get 10% off any of your purchases during the event (1 to 4 PM). We know you have lots of choices in the area to shop for your liquor needs, but we want to thank you for your patronage, and for being loyal Cork’s customers.

We have a special beer tasting with our Beer Mgr. Marc tonight (Thursday) from 4:30 to 7 PM. He has made up a “Mix 6 pack” of 6 of his favorite beers. He will be changing this up from time to time (seasonally?) but this is the inaugural 6-pk that is destined to be a collector’s item. Here are the beers in the 6 pk that he will be sampling. Southern Tier Hop Sun… Troegs Hop Back Amber Ale…Widmer Citra Blonde…Victory Prima Pils… Loose Cannon Hop3 IPA…and Smuttynose Old Brown Dog Ale. This sounds like a great mix to me and is $11.99 everyday. During tonight’s tasting we will take an additional 10% off. So be sure to stop in for Marc’s 1st Mix 6 beer tasting.

We are going to skip the next couple of Friday night wine tastings until the big Customer Appreciation Event. It’s just a slow time of year on the wine end of things. Jay from Commonwealth had some nice wines last week and the traffic for the tasting just wasn’t there. I know a lot of you switch over to summer beers and mixed cocktails in the warmer months, and it’s just plain slow in the back for the wine tastings. We will spot them out in August and get back to the regular schedule as the cooler fall months are upon us….mmmmmm I can smell them Pumpkin Beers and Oktoberfest beers brewing now.

Who will host our next Customer Wine Tasting?

Welcome to Cork’s weekly newsletter. I hope everybody had a great 4th of July weekend. Finally a nice long stretch of warm summer weather is upon us, and after a couple of tweaks, our AC is back up and kicking. We apologize for the “uncoolness” of our store over the weekend but, 1 of rooftop units was not working.

A big thank you to Aimee and Clara (AKA The Wrap Girls) for doing a great job at last Friday night’s Customer Wine Tasting. They had some great wines they were pouring and considering it was the long holiday weekend, and most of you were in a get-a-way mode, I think we had a good turnout. They filmed a bit in the store http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=587737003807&oid=172999266075278&comments and I’m sure they will talk more about it on this week’s show. We will have them back sometime during the Christmas season for another Customer Wine tasting….so, who’s next??

This week’s beer tasting is with our good friend Tim Coleman. He’s the British dude…or maybe it’s Scottish…or is it Irish??...either way he’s the guy with the cool accent and the awesome beers we always hide in the back at the big beer tastings. He will have this months “Beer of the Month” Heavy Seas Sunken Sampler to taste you on. It consists of Hop3 IPA…Classic Lager…Pale Ale…and X Beer, which is their secret treasure that changes seasonally. The mix 12-PK will be $13.99 through Sunday and $14.99 for the rest of the month. So get here this Thursday from 4:30 to 7 PM and try some ExtrAARGHdinary Beers, and don’t forget you get a free pint glass with your “Beer of the Month” mixed 12 pack.

We have Jay from Commonwealth Wines making his Friday night debut this week from 4:30 to 7 PM at the back wine bar. He has a nice collection of new and affordable summer wines for you to try out. The highly successful Polka Dot Rieslings have added another color to their collection. The “Yellow Dot” Riesling, unlike its German sisters in Green and Pink, is a California Riesling. Mirassou Chardonnay will be the next value white we will be tasting. Red Rock Merlot has been out for a few years now and will be next. The Red Rock line has recently expanded and we will be pouring the new Red Rock Malbec and Red Rock Red Blend. These are great wines to go with ribs and steaks from the grill. He might have a surprise bonus item to sample you on, but he is waiting to see if he can snag a sample. So be sure to stop on by and get 10% off on any of these great Summer wines.

Don’t forget our 5th Annual Customer Appreciation Day tasting is less that a month away. The date is Saturday July 30th from 1 to 4 PM. We are just now putting the lineup of tasting items together, and scavenging for “stuff” to give away. We may not have the big advertising budgets of our competitors but this is our way of showing thanks to you, our customers, for shopping here at Cork’s.

Enjoy the great summer weather and we’ll see you all soon.

Robert
