SuperBrew VI Newsletter - Dig out and join us!

Welcome to Cork’s Superbrew VI newsletter. I think Marc has the lineup just about set for our biggest tasting of the year. It’s this Saturday January 29th from 2:30 to 5 PM. I think we have close to 90 beers and a couple of liquors as well. Here is a quick look at what we will be pouring. Narragansett…Cisco…Heavy Seas…Southern Tier…Ipswich…Mayflower…Troegs…Long Trail…Otter Creek…Smuttynose…Anchor Steam…Harpoon…Oscar Blues…Schlafly…Bear Republic…Olde Burnside Growlers…Goose Island…Redhook…Sierra Nevada…Kona…Sam Adams…Geary’s…Founders…Smirnoff…and we even have weed…Jeremiah Weed RTD’s that is! We have our friends from Cabin Fever here once again, and this time they have homemade fudge made from their delicious maple whiskey. We also have the Sailor’s Swagger Pineapple Hot Sauce guy with a new flavor, Roadhouse Red Pepper, and a vat of chili to go with it. So hopefully you can find a few new beers for next weeks Super Bowl, or Saturday’s (yawwwn) Pro Bowl game.

We don’t have a beer or wine tasting scheduled for this Thursday or Friday as we get the store ready for Saturday’s big event. I am looking for volunteers who might want to do a “Customer” wine tasting on a Friday night in February or March. I know a few of you had mentioned in the past (Cubby?) that you were interested. These are the slower months, and a good time to do it so let me know. We do have our very 1st wine dinner (what the heck took us so long) scheduled for Monday February 28th at Cibo Matto CafĂ©. We are going to feature the excellent wines of the Francis Ford Coppola portfolio, paired with a 6 course meal made by Peter. We’re still working out the details but we’re hoping to keep the ticket price at $50 per person. It sounds like a lot, but where else can you get a fabulous 6 course dinner and 6 wines for 100 bucks a couple. We will have more info on this on the website (corksfinwine.com) and in future newsletters.

Here are this week’s sale items:

Another snowstorm? Warm up with Cork's weekly specials!

Welcome to Cork’s weekly newsletter. Are you ready for another snowstorm? I, for one, am not… but I am looking forward to the Redsox pitchers and catchers reporting in less than 4 weeks…and my fabulous Caribbean cruise 2 weeks after that…Thanks Oprah and sis!

Oh well, at least we have our 1st wine tasting of the New Year this Friday, and our Superbrew VI Beer tasting just 9 days away. Saturday January 29th from 2:30 to 5 PM is the date and time. Marc has the lineup pretty much set, and it looks quite impressive. Here’s who I see he has coming so far Narragansett...Cisco...Southern Tier...Heavy Seas...Ipswich...Mayflower...Troegs...Long Trail...Otter Creek...Smuttynose...Anchor Steam...Harpoon...Oscar Blues...Schlafly...Beer Republic...Stone...Goose Island...Redhook...Sierra Nevada...Kona...Cabin Fever...This is a great chance to stock for the Super Bowl next week. And since the Patriots aren’t in it (grrrrrrrrr) maybe we can get a couple of them who live down the street and always come into Cork's to make a guest appearance!

We will not have a beer tasting this week as we get ready for next week’s big event. But we do have Eric from Baystate wines kicking off the wine tastings for 2011 this Friday from 4:30 to 7 PM. He has a nice lineup starting with Stephen Vincent Chardonnay, which is 50% Monterey and 50% Clarksburg fruit. We go to Chile next for Viu Manent Carmenere, a great value wine at 2 for $16 and Secreto Malbec, a mid tier Malbec from Viu Manent. This wine drinks like a $15 to $20 bottle for just $11.99. Finishing out the wine portion is a new wine from Peirano Estates. The Immortal Zin is from 100 year old Lodi vines and is just heavenly. He will end the tasting with Rum Chata. This is a delicious blend of sweet cream, rum, and cinnamon. I tried this a few weeks ago and it tasted just like moms rice pudding. I’m not sure that’s a good thing or not but hey, I’d better get used to those crazy rum concoctions if I’m on a Caribbean cruise, right?

Let’s talk about this week’s sale items. I’ve seen quite a few of you take advantage of them the last couple of weeks, and we know have them posted on a whiteboard as you walk in the store. There are some really sharp prices this week so be sure and check them out. We will also take 10 % off any remaining holiday liquor, beer, or wine gift sets.

Cork's Snowy Newsletter... Check out our new weekly specials!

Welcome to Cork’s snowy newsletter. I hope you all survived the latest winter blast we just had. I got about 18 inches down in RI, and it looks like there is at least that here as well. Hopefully you were all snuggled in your jammies and robes like I was all day. We didn’t open the store as most of you were home, and the Governor Patrick issued a state of emergency for Mass. I didn’t do it this time… but going forward we will have store closing and late openings posted on Twitter, Facebook, and our website at corksfinewine.com.

We do have a beer tasting scheduled for tonight (Thursday) from 4:30 to 7 PM. And I’m led to believe it will actually be (not my real) cousin Vinnie making a rare guest appearance. He will be sampling you on the beers from Redhook and …...we have breaking news… just as I was about to send the newsletter…because of yesterday's snowstorm we will not be getting our Quality Beverage delivery until tomorrow. That means we don’t have enough Redhook products to taste, so we are going to cancel tonight’s tasting and roll Redhook into the Superbrew VI tasting. Sorry for any inconvenience.

We do not have a wine tasting on the schedule for this week…but if you swing by I’m sure I’ll open 1 or 2…maybe 3 wines. We do get the wine tasting schedule going again next week with Eric from Baystate Wines here.

Let’s talk about the weekly sale that we started here at Cork’s last week. We did have quite a few of you partake in the discounts. We even had a couple of you come in with the newsletter! We will keep tweaking the format and I’m hoping to get a legit looking flyer that we can put on the website and print up. Any way…that 1st sale ended yesterday, and we have new items on sale starting today.

So get yourself all shoveled out and head over to Cork’s and enjoy the extra savings from this week's sale. We are back to our “Winter Hours” until the Spring thaw. Winter Hours are Monday through Saturday 10 AM to 9 PM and Sundays 12 to 5 PM.

This week’s home Patriot playoff game doesn’t kick-off till 4:30 so you have plenty of time to load up before watching the Pats spank the Jets once again on their road to the Super Bowl. Just a reminder Superbrew VI is a little more than 2 weeks away. Marc has been working hard on the lineup for his 1st big beer tasting. I will have him get me a list of who he has locked up and we will post it on the website.

Have a great weekend…Go Pats!!

Cork's New Sales Newsletter!

Welcome to Cork’s 1st newsletter of 2011. I hope you all had a great New Year’s Holiday. As usual around the Holidays we were quite busy and we thank you for your patronage. We have some new and exciting things planned for the New Year. Starting this week we will be start advertising specials on a weekly basis. We’ll talk more about that later on in this newsletter. We are planning a wine dinner with Peter over Cibo Matto for February. Of course we have our Superbrew VI Beer tasting on Saturday January 29th from 2:30 to 5 PM. I’m also looking for any volunteers for “Customer” wine or beer tastings. We will also find a night to do the Tarot Card/Wine Tasting like we’ve done the last couple of years. Things really slow down in January and February and we won’t have tastings every week. So we’d like to make them more of an event.

We don’t have a beer or wine tasting scheduled for this week, so let’s talk about the new weekly specials we will be doing here at Cork’s. They will start on Thursday with the newsletter and will last for 1 week, ending the following Wednesday. We will have 3 or 4 items from each department in the store…beer…liquor…and wine. I will try to get a mix of lower end products, to more boutique type items in each category but all at excellent savings. We will have displays and sale signs made up for each of these sale items, and will have a new page set up on the website (corksfinewine.com). In addition to these items don’t forget we will match any of our competitors advertised sale prices in town. Just bring in the ad and we will be more than happy to give you the same item at that price. We’ll experiment on how best to list the prices to make it easy for you… so let’s give this a whirl.
