Cork's Weekly Newsletter

Welcome to Cork’s Weekly Newsletter

I hope everybody enjoyed the long weekend we had, and what a beautiful weekend it turned out to be! I was so glad that the forecasted rain never came.

As promised, there is a beer tasting tonight from 5 -8 with our favorite, Pat Wallace. He is pouring the Sam Adams Seasonal Mix pack. As always any beer being tasted this evening is 10% off.

We won’t have a scheduled wine tasting Friday, what with the long weekend; many of our deliveries were pushed way back till Friday. It’s great to get a day off, but I feel it takes a whole week to recover and get everything back in order.

Don’t forget to stop by on concert nights for ‘the coldest beer in town’, and stock up for all those grad parties that are getting into full swing!!!

Cork's Memorial Day Newsletter

Corks Weekly Newsletter

Well it feels like summer has finally arrived! Memorial Day weekend has certainly brought the nice warm weather that encourages bbq-ing, backyard parties, or a trip to the beach.  We will be open 8 – 10 Saturday, 12 – 6 Sunday, and closed Monday. Don’t forget and make sure to stock up for your parties and cookouts beforehand.

We yet again do not have a beer tasting tonight. Sorry, I know I have been slacking in that department…I don’t know why, I love beer…
Anyways, I promise to you all I will have a beer tasting lined up for next Thursday. I’m thinking of bringing in a special guest, but you will just have to wait and see.
(Hint: He has red hair and loves the Bruins…)

As for wines, I will have a few open to try this Friday evening. I decided on some summer-y wines to get in the mood of relaxing in the sun.
First we have Lagaria Pinot Grigio, coming in at $10.99. This Pinot Grigio is fruity and tangy, unlike other pinots that are so light and clean they barely taste like anything.  Next up is a summertime favorite, Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc. This is a zesty and crisp wine, a true New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Last week I wanted to open Flirt, a new red blend we got in, but Megan was on a cruise to the Bahamas and I was rather busier than expected. So we will try it this Friday.

Don’t forget we are closed Monday, so make sure to do all your shopping beforehand.

Have a safe and fun Memorial Day weekend!!

Welcome to Cork's Weekly Newsletter

Welcome to Cork’s Weekly Newsletter!

I hope everyone is outside enjoying the beautiful sun we are having today, and on through this weekend!

Our customer wine tasting/charity event was a huge success last Friday night. I hope everyone had fun, enjoyed themselves, and raised a lot of money for the cause. Also, thanks for Tom and Erin for being fun and informative pouring the wine. If there are any of you out there interested in doing your own customer wine tasting, let me know and we can schedule one for an open Friday.

Here are this week’s featured new items at Cork’s:

‘Flirt’ is a California red blend of Syrah, Tempranillo and Zinfandel. This is clearly marketed towards women, huh? All that aside I thought is was a great wine, a little on the sweet side, which is not usually my thing. We have a tasting scheduled for July 16th with Ellen, but I think this wine is so delicious that I can’t wait till then. So I will have a bottle open this Friday night for you to try. It is only $12.99 and 10% off tomorrow night only.

Captain Morgan Black is the nip special of the week at only 99 cents. I’m sure you’ve seen all the advertising out for Captain Morgan Black on billboards or on TV. I seem to see it everywhere I go. It’s a little higher in alcohol content and has a richer and darker flavor and color.

As for the beers, Mayflower brewing just released their summer this week. Not a new beer on the market, but a really good summer time beer to drink in this nice weather.
Also, check out this cool article from Boston magazine, The Best Craft Beer in New England, where they discuss 13 beers brewed in New England, many of which can be found here at Cork’s.

Does anyone remember the mystery discounts we used to do? (When we would give you a phrase in the email and if you said the phrase to the cashier, you would get 10% off you purchase) I’m thinking about bringing them back, any thoughts? They were always really fun and at times slightly inappropriate (which were even funnier).

As always have a safe and fun weekend!

Mother's Day Weekend Favorites

Welcome to Cork’s weekly newsletter!

I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful May weather we are having! ....Just kidding, all this rain is a bummer. We may not be enjoying it, but all the trees and plants around town are getting a big drink, and should be looking beautiful sometime soon I hope. In celebration of Mother’s Day, we made a section in the very front of the store with some lovely Mother’s Day favorites. We polled all the mothers that work here (mine included) and got a nice selection of wines they would love to drink on their special day, and pair well with brunch. They are mostly sparkling wines and champagnes, with a few Moscato thrown in the bunch, and cover every price range.

This weekend we have a different type of wine tasting happening. During our regular tasting hours, either Megan or I will have a few bottles open. Starting off with a lovely Mimosa pre-mixed. This is a nice and easy drinking sparkling wine to bring to a Mother’s Day brunch and at a great price of $11.99. Next we have a new brand in the store called J.G. Bazan. It is a Malbec from Mendoza Argentina and retails usually for $14.99, but will be $12.99 Friday night only. I will probably open up one more surprise wine to round out the night, suggestions are welcome!

Kicking off at 6pm, there is a private wine tasting/fundraiser. We have a few Boston Marathon runners who ran for the Mass General in support of “’Fighting Kids’ Cancer …One Step At A Time.”  They have booked the back area and have sold tickets for around $25 dollars. Feel free to stop in to this double tasting to meet the runners and try some wines, donations are appreciated.

We have not one, but two guest appearances this week as well. First we have Tom, who will be the official wine expert at the second tasting. And doing a surprise appearance as Tom's assistant this weekend only, is everyone’s favorite employee Erin, who I believe always makes the email when the Bitch wine is in…coincidence? Anyways, those two will be pouring delicious wines on Friday. And as usual we give 10% off of wines being tasted that night.

So come in out of the rain and get your weekend supplies here at Cork’s!!
