Not the night of the 6th Annual Grand Spring Wine Tasting

Just a reminder that our 6th Annual Grand Spring Wine Tasting is not tonight as originally scheduled. It has been postponed to sometime in May. I will update the website and alert you in a future newsletter when we get a new date. We do have a special beer tasting lined up for this Saturday from 2:30 to 5 PM. Goose Island Brewery out of Chicago is known as the “Sam Adams of the Midwest”. I’ve had a few myself on my visits to the windy city and they are outstanding craft beers. Well they finally hit the east coast and my cousin Vinnie will be here to launch this excellent lineup. He will have Honker’s Ale, IPA, and 312 Urban Wheat Ale in 6 packs for you to sample. As well as their specialty beers, Sofie, Matilda, and Pere Jacques in the large 22 oz. format. This will be one of the best beer launches of the year here at Cork’s so be sure to stop in and give Goose Island a try.

We will take this Friday off from an official wine tasting. But for those in the know …well you know… there is usually a bottle or 2 open for you to try. We will have our friend Mark here next Friday for a special Easter Wine Tasting. He will have some great wines to pair with all your Holiday meals. While we are on the Easter Holiday we will kick off our Spring/Summer hours on April 2nd (Good Friday). We will be open until 10 PM on Friday and Saturday nights right through the summer months. We will be closed on Easter Sunday. Not to forget our Jewish Friends out there, we have plenty of Kosher Wines for your Seder celebrations. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Happy spring!

I hope you all had your Guinness, Jameson, Baileys, or at least a green beer or 2 for St. Patty’s Day. I love this time of year as the days get longer and it’s going to come close to 70 today! And to make it even better NCAA March Madness kicks off in Providence any minute now. And for you Bruins fans out there our rematch with the Penguins and their cheap shot artist should provide some classic brawls tonight.

We will keep things rolling with our new friends from Blue Hills Brewery out of Canton, MA here for our Thursday night beer tasting from 4:30 to 7 PM. They will be pouring their delicious local growlers of IPA, Extra IPA, and Red Baron Ale. He will also have the 22 oz. Imperial Red IPA and hopefully the brand new Marzen in a 22 oz bottle as well. So if you didn’t drink too much last night (like Wallace) then swing on by for a sample and help support the little local guys!

We will not have an official wine tasting this Friday night. Last weeks Tarot Card/Wine Tasting with John and Regina was once again a huge success. One thing she predicted for Cork’s was that we postpone our 6th Annual Grand Wine Tasting until some time in May…OK ...she really didn’t see that in our cards, but due to some scheduling conflicts we will be re-scheduling that big tasting. So go out and enjoy the beautiful weather and have a great weekend.

Tarot card/wine tasting for St. Patty's Weekend

Welcome to Cork’s weekly newsletter. We have a beer and a wine tasting to talk about, and some news on our 6th Annual Grand Spring Wine Tasting. We are going to postpone that big event until sometime in May. There were a couple of scheduling conflicts and other stuff going on as well, so we will push it back a few months. I will update the website (corksfinewine.com) with details and the new date of the event.

Tonight’s (Thursday from 5 to 7 PM) beer tasting is a St. Patrick’s Day tasting with our friends from Guinness. I’m led to believe that there will be a supermodel building “Blacksmiths”. This is a black and tan combo featuring Guinness and Smithwick’s….mmmmmm, sounds pretty yummy to me! I hear they have lots of St. Patty’s trinkets to pass out too. So be sure to get your St. Patrick’s weekend started and try a Blacksmith. We will take 10 % off any Guinness or Smithwick’s products on the night of the tasting as well.

Friday night's wine tasting from 4:30 to 7, will feature the brother/sister team of John from Trio Wines, and his sister Regina who is a tarot card reader. We did this Tarot/Tasting last year and it was 1 of our most popular tastings of the year. John will be sampling Di Lupo Pinot Grigio, Five H Riesling, Five H Meritage, Blue Pirate Pinot Noir, Pine & Post Cabernet, Bianchi Chardonnay, and Bianchi Cabernet. Due to the overwhelming popularity of the tarot card readings, Regina is going to have to limit the time of the readings to 10 minutes. Last year she was here well past 9 PM trying to get everybody in. So we are going to have a sign up sheet and take the first 15 people who sign up. So get here early...try some great wines…and take a peek into your future.

Customer Wine Tasting with Joanne and Jocelyn

Welcome to Cork’s weekly newsletter. I’ve been off for a few days and have some catching up to do so I’m going to make this newsletter brief. We don’t have a beer tasting lined up for tonight but we do have a customer wine tasting Friday night from 4:30 to 7 PM. Joanne and Jocelyn have picked out some of their favorite wines and said they were going to whip up something yummy to pair with their selections.

They will start with Bloom Riesling from Germany and then Washington Hills Merlot. These are both very good value wines that you can find in the “2 for” bins at the front of the store. Lost Angel Mischief Red is a delicious red blend from the Central Coast and will be next. The next one I added myself…sorry girls but I didn’t realize you had 3 Rieslings picked out…I know Jocelyn was looking for a Shiraz to do so I think Peter Lehman Shiraz from Barossa Valley Australia would fit in perfectly.

The last 2 are sweeter dessert wines, Washington Hills Late Harvest Riesling, and the biggest hit of last summer Ed Hardy Sangria. These wines again are great value wines and make a fitting end to our 4th…5th or is it 6th...hmmm…I’m not sure how many it’s been, customer wine tasting!

And don’t forget our 6th Annual Grand Spring Wine Tasting is less than a month away on Thursday, March 25th from 4:30 to 7 PM. Have a great weekend.
