Don't open our website!

Hi Everyone,

First of all, thanks to all who attended Super Brew VII on Saturday. It was a huge success!

Second, our website seems to have a virus attached to it so please do not use the website until we get back to you that it's safe again. We are in the process of investigating the situation and will fix it as soon as we can.

My sister, our website seems to have a virus attached to it so please do not use the website until we get back to you that it's safe again. We are in the process of investigating the situation and will fix it as soon as we can.

This is Marianne, Robert's sister. The first time this happened to me, I contacted Plumchoice to talk me through it. I recommend using your own computer professional unless you're a do-it-yourself type. If you are, here's what I did as soon as I knew it was a virus. I shut the computer immediately. Then as I started it up again, I kept hitting the F8 button. This gave me the choice of how I wanted to open it. I chose SAFE MODE. It opens it in very big letters.

I went to Programs, Accessories System Tools and System Restore. When I got there, it gave me the option of going back to the previous day - which was a time before the virus. I did that and computer fixed itself and opened up fine.

I recommend that you have the most up to date virus software you can get but the person who fixed my laptop when I got the virus a few months ago told me this particular virus can even get through the toughest protection.

It's Super Brew Time - Celebrate the Patriots with Cork's Saturday from 2 to 5

Welcome to Cork’s Superbrew VII newsletter. We are just 2 days away from our biggest beer tasting of the year. Superbrew VII kicks off at 2 PM this Saturday, January 28th and lasts till 5 PM. As with all our tastings at Cork’s, be they small ones or big events, admission is FREE! Marc is putting the finishing touches on the lineup and it looks to be just about 85 beers. We also have a few liquor items, Margarita mixers, and of course Sailor Swagger Hot Sauces and Bloody Mary mix. We will have plenty of snacks to munch on and we’re trying a new pizza place, Piezone’s this time around. I’m sure there will be plenty of free stuff…pint glasses…key chains...bottle openers…coasters…maybe even a few hats and t-shirts. This is a great opportunity to try a ton of new beers and start loading up for the Super Bowl! Woohoo we’re going to the Super Bowl baby!!

We won’t have any tastings on Thursday or Friday as we gear up for the event on Saturday but I’m sure we’ll have a bottle of wine or 2 open as we set the tables up on Friday night. Rather than list our whiteboard specials as we’ve done in the past, I think I’ll talk a little bit about them in text this time. Let’s start with Mimosa Sparkling Chenin Blanc at $9.99 a 750 ML bottle. This comes in a bright orange bottle and is made with 100 % real orange juice, the wine Chenin Blanc, with a lil CO2 to make it sparkle. This is the perfect wine to kick off Super Bowl Sunday or any brunch for that matter. Next up is a delicious Chardonnay that we brought in mainly because it’s Megan’s last name. Foley Chardonnay is 100% steel fermented with zero Malolactic. In other words this is how Chardonnay is supposed to taste! It’s not cheap with a $24.99 every day price but a great value on sale for $19.99. Our last wine is a nice everyday Italian Pinot Grigio in the 1.5 L bottle. Bella Sera PG 1.5L will be sale priced at $12.99.

Our beer specials will start with Strela Cabo Verde imported from Portugal. We bought this a few months back from our Portuguese wine guy and I think we’ve sold just one 6-pk. So we will mark it down to $6.99 (just pennies above cost) and try to blow it out. But don’t like it too much because it’s never coming back! Next up is St. Pauli Girl 12-packs. We were going to have a buxom supermodel dress up in a St. Paulie Girl costume to sample this at our beer tasting, but I thought who would want that…so we nixed that idea and we’ll just have the 12-pks at the discount price of $11.99. We can’t forget you craft beer geeks, now can we? How about we put Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale…Raison D’Etra…60 Minute…and 90 Minute on sale for $9.99.

As far as liquor goes it’s pretty slim pickens over there as we get ready for inventory. But we do have a few gift sets leftover from the holidays so let’s put those on sale. How about Grand Marnier in a cool red gift tin with handle, 750 ML bottle for $34.99? Next up is The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky gift set. It comes in a nice box that has 2 glasses and some kind of passport to Scotland inside, and we have it on sale for $44.99. Last but not least, we have the return of UV nips for 99 cents. You’ve asked Ursula, Queen of Nips, for some time to get them in… and finally they are back. We just have the Regular Vodka and Blue Raspberry flavors for this week but we will try and add more flavors and colors as they become available.

So I want to see all of you decked out in your Patriots gear this Saturday for the Super Brew VII Beer tasting. Whoever we deem the most “Patriotic” (this is totally subjective and I will take bribes) will win the black Budweiser Chiminea/wood burning bottle thingie that people have been ogling in the back of the store. We will also have a Patriots Cake to munch on thanks to our friend Tiffany from Tiffany’s Dynamite Confections https://www.facebook.com/DynamiteConfections

So be sure and stop by this Saturday for Cork’s Super Brew VII Beer Tasting…see you there!!

Stock up early as the Pats get one game closer!

Welcome to Cork’s weekly newsletter. Well the Pats are just 1 win away from the Super Bowl! And we are just 10 days away from our Super Brew VII Beer Tasting. The big event is on Saturday January 28th from 2 to 5 PM. Marc has the list almost finished and it looks to be another killer lineup. Here is a snapshot of the beers we will be sampling…Newport Storm…Smuttynose…Offshore Ales…Southern Tier…Cisco…Sam Adams…Angry Orchard Ciders…Troegs…Mayflower…Ithaca…21st Amendment…Uinta…Sierra Nevada…Widmer…Anchor Steam…Harpoon…NEW Bud Light Platinum…Notch…Hofbrau…Clown Shoes…Three Heads…and more. We also have a new gin based liqueur from Belgium called Juniper…Drink Skinny Margarita mixes…and Sailor Swagger will be here featuring his new Bloody Mary Mix.

Once again we won’t have a beer or wine tasting this week as we prepare for inventory and the big Super Brew event. We do have openings for “Customer Tastings” be they beer or wine for February and March. Just let Marc or me know and we will save the date for you. Beer tastings would be Thursday night, or actually Friday night or Saturday afternoon if that works better for you. Wine tastings again are usually Friday nights but could be Saturday as well. This slow time for us is a great chance for you to throw a party at Cork’s, and we’ll buy the beer and wine!

Don’t forget if you are going to the game on Sunday you’re going to have to plan ahead for your tailgating. This kind of reminds me of the good old days when liquor stores were closed Sunday, and if you wanted booze for the weekend you had to head out Saturday night. So with a 3 O’clock kickoff… and the gates opening probably around 11ish… we can’t legally open till noon on Sunday. If you’re not heading to the game, be sure and load up anyways for all those Patriot viewing parties. It should be a great game and I think the Pats will pull it out in a close contest. On a side note, did you folks know we have at least 10 or so Patriot players that frequent Cork’s? Even last Saturday the day of the playoff game we had 3 of them in here that afternoon (shhhh... don’t tell Bill). So next time you’re in and see some really, really big dude…Hmmm you never know. Go Patriots!!

Big Pats Game, Superbrew...and maybe a Customer-hosted Tasting?

Welcome to Cork’s weekly newsletter. We are just 2 days away from the big Patriot home playoff game against Tebow and the Broncos. It’s going to be another cold one so be sure and stop by and load up on some nips and beers to keep you warm. I think the Pats should be fine if they win the turnover battle. Then just 1 more home win next week and we’re back in the Super Bowl. Speaking of the “Big Game”, don’t forget to mark your calendars for Cork’s Super Brew VII Beer tasting. The day is Saturday, January 28th from 2 to 5 PM. Marc is frantically filling up the lineup with great new beers and some of your favorites to taste. We even have some new interesting liquor items for you to try as well.

Once again we are going to pass on beer and wine tastings this week. It’s just really a slow time of year in the business and they historically draw very poorly. Having said that, Marc opened a couple of new things last Thursday and with very little convincing will do so this week. And I usually have a bottle or 2 open on a Friday night so feel free to ask what’s open when you come in. We probably won’t have an official beer tasting till the big Super Brew VII event. I might sneak a wine tasting in there before then if there is demand for it. I know a few of you have asked about a “Customer Wine tasting”. This would be the perfect time for it, so just me know.

Happy New Year! How about holding your own tasting here in 2012?

Welcome to Cork’s weekly newsletter. I hope everybody had a great New Year’s Eve/Day. I know I am glad 2011 is over and looking forward to a better 2012. I spent a relaxing NYE at my sister’s watching movies on her 3D TV and making massive panninis (thanks Oprah!). For those who don’t know my sister Marianne, she is our Saturday AM cashier here at Cork’s. She also does ours, and many other websites. She is a teacher…author…motivational speaker...actress…pilot… entrepreneur…and I’m sure I’m leaving some stuff out. She asked if I could put a link to her teleseminar that she is having called "10 Steps to Create an Extra-Ordinary 2012”. I know this really doesn’t tie into the “liquor store” we run here at Cork’s but I think it might be helpful to some of you. And, after all my sister has done for me this past year, and throughout my life, how could I say no to her. So here is the link for the teleseminar, and like all our tastings here at Cork’s…it’s FREE!! http://www.mariannedouglas.com/seminars.htm

Speaking of tastings, we don’t have any this week! I know most of you have plenty of wine and beer left over from the holidays. Not to mention it’s too darn cold to be coming out. This time of year we like to space the tastings out more, and make them more like mini-events. This is a perfect time for “Customer Tastings” be they beer or wine. I just booked the “Wrap Girls” for a special Valentines tasting, but we have plenty of room for more of you. For those who are asking what the heck is a “Customer Tasting” here is a brief description. You (alone or with a spouse/ friend) pick out your favorite beers or wines. You invite all your friends and family to come to the tasting here at Cork’s. We also invite all our regular customers, too, of course. If you want you can also make some fabulous dish to pair with your selections. Then you get behind the bar/table and pour for everybody and show off how much you know (or don’t know but who cares) about the beer/wine. We also give you a lovely parting gift for participating in our tastings. Sound fun? Well, be sure and book yours early by letting me, Marc, Megan, or Kat know which day you want. Thursdays for beer and Fridays for wine though we’ve been known to do them on a Saturday too if that day work’s better for you.

While we’re talking tastings don’t forget our Super Brew VII Beer tasting is less than a month away. The date is Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 2 to 5 PM. I know Marc is piecing the lineup together now and this should be a great event. Now if only the Pat’s can win 2 home play-off games and actually get to the Super Bowl, that will make it even better. So rest up boys (no big parties at Kathy’s place) during the bye week, and let’s all root for the Bengals and Broncos. Nice to see the Celts right the ship and run off 4 straight….and can anybody stop the Bruins? Have a great week everybody.

Robert
