Welcome to Cork’s weekly newsletter. Since we have 3 tastings lined up for this week, we’ll save the sports stuff till the end of the e-mail.

Let’s start off with tonight’s beer tasting from 4:30 to 7 PM with our Greek friend Yanni from Opa-Opa. He will have a bunch of his fresh 64 OZ growlers for you to sample. I’m not sure what he’s pouring, but I know it will be from our huge selection of Opa Growlers…Pale Ale…Xtra Pale Ale…IPA…Double IPA…Red Rock Amber…Belgian White…Milk Stout…and the new Blueberry Ale. We will take 10 % off the purchase of any Opa growler, and tonight only, all Opa 6-pks are $6.99 and 12 packs $12.99. We even have a better price on the Light 12-pks at only $11.99.

Tommy (he ain’t heavy he’s my brother) Bollini makes a triumphant return to our Friday night wine tastings (4:30 to 7 PM). He will start you off with a great French sparker from Burgundy called Louis Bouillot Cremant De Bourgogne Brut Rose. This is a very affordable sparkling wine that would be great for all your graduation and summer celebratory needs. Next we go to Napa Valley for Folie a Deux Chardonnay and Merlot. These are the same folks that make the very popular Menage-a-Trois wines, but are single varietals of excellent quality. Off to Australia for 2 new wines from 1 of my favorite producers, Peter Lehman. Layers White and Layers Red are blends from some of Peter Lehman’s best properties mixed to give you …well...layers of complexity and taste. If that weren’t enough…and just the return of Tommy Bollini should be… IF we get our shipment of Redsox Wines that are supposed to arrive Friday AM, we will crack them open as well. This year’s wines are ZinfandEllsbury and Chardon-K ….hmmm any coincidence that both Ellsbury and Beckett are both hurt?

Rounding out our triple-header of tastings we have Miguel from L. Knife here on Saturday from 2:30to 5 PM for his “Tastes Like Belgium” Beer tasting. He will have 3 American Breweries (Brooklyn, Allagash, and Ommegang) doing their Belgian Style brews. He will compare and contrast them against selections from Chimay, Duvel, and Saison Dupont. Sounds like a pretty cool beer tasting to me!

Let’s hope for the Celts to put an end to Lebron and the Cavs tonight…The Bruins to wake up in time for game 7 tomorrow night, and for the Sox to continue on the decent trend they’ve been on. Either way we have whatever you need to cheer your team on or drown your sorrows if we lose!

Robert
