It's here! Cork's 7th Annual Grand Holiday Wine Tasting

Welcome to Cork’s 7th Annual Grand Holiday Wine Tasting newsletter. We are less than 3 days away from our biggest wine tasting of the entire year. The lineup is all but put to bed, and if I do say so myself, it is quite impressive. We have about 87 wines and 4 liquor items for you to sample. And as with ALL our tastings here at Cork’s, it’s all FREE ! We will have plenty of munchies and our famous tasting pizza for you to snack on between wines. We have many wines sale priced and we’ll also take 10 % off any 6 bottles…15 % off any 12 bottles…and for this event only we will take 20% off 2 cases (24 bottles) or more! 2 for items will not discount further but will always count towards the total. This is a perfect opportunity to stock up for Thanksgiving and the Christmas holiday season.

We have a bunch of new wines that I’ve tasted at the fall shows that have been trickling in the last few months. From $5.99 value priced wines… all the way up to $49 (Clio Mourvedre/Cabernet blend…and 1 of the best wines I’ve ever tasted at any price!)…and tons of wines in between. Most of the wines we will be sampling fall into the $8 to $13 range and will be even cheaper with the case discounts. Here is a peek at some of the wines we will be tasting. Chandon…Heidsieck…Grand Noir…Grayson…A to Z… Entwine…Villa Marchesi… Girasole…Nashoba…Barefoot…Cono Sur…Dreaming Tree…Sean Minor…Pindar…La Joya…My Big Fat Greek Wine…Dow’s…and tons more!

Normally we don’t do a beer or wine tasting the week leading up to 1 of our big events. But because Miguel was under the weather last week, we will do our “Beer of the Month” variety pack tasting tonight (Thursday) from 4:30 to 7 PM. This month we feature an 8-pack from Ommegang Brewery out of Cooperstown, NY. Awesome brewery by the way. I went a couple of years ago. If you’re going to the MLB Hall of Fame, or just in the upstate NY area I strongly recommend checking them out. The 8-pack consists of 2 each of these Belgian style brews. BPA (Belgian-style Pale Ale)… Abbey Ale…Saison Ale…and Three Philosophers. I’ve had them all except for the BPA which I think is new (Marc…Miguel??) and these beers are really good. As with all our “BOTM” variety packs you receive a free glass with your purchase. This time it’s not a pint glass but some crazy Belgian style vessel.

We definitely won’t have a wine tasting Friday night as we get the tables all set up for the following day. But if you want to come by and help, I’m sure we’ll have a bottle or 2 open! How about we review a few tips to help you along for the big wine tastings.

  • Bring your favorite wine glass from home. We will have real glasses not plastic for you…but they are still small and don’t let you swirl and taste the wine like yours will
  • There is no need to rinse your glass after every wine…in fact the only time you should rinse is when going from red to white…and even that is unnecessary most of the time…the water will just dilute the next wine you put in your glass

  • Remember this a tasting. 85 plus wines and a few liquor items is quite a bit. Pace yourself…dump and spit a little. I know it sounds wasteful and gross, but it’s the only way to get through a tasting of this size

  • Have some snacks and pizza to get some food in your stomach…but don’t chow down a whole pizza…If you want a whole pie, call Papa Gino’s or Domino’s to deliver you one!

  • Give the rep your # which is at the top of the sheet so we can set aside your wines and have them ready for you when you check out. Most of all…have fun…sample and learn about some fantastic wines…drink responsibly…and stock up on some great wines for the holidays!

I thank you in advance for coming, and we’ll see you all on Saturday for Cork’s 7th Annual Grand Holiday Wine tasting!

Robert
