Great gift sets and handmade gift baskets all priced right!

Welcome to Cork’s weekly newsletter. Thanks to all of you who came out for our Bill “Spaceman” Lee wine tasting last week. It was a huge success! Bill was as crazy as ever, spinning tales of his past and present. He happily signed anything put in front of him and we sold out of 8 ½ cases of Spaceman wine. I’m hoping to get some more, and Bill said he’d swing by and even sign those for you folks who couldn’t get any that night. Thanks to Bill’s lovely wife Diana and to Kurt from Horizon Beverage for helping us out as well.

As for this week’s tasting we have our good friend Zach from Newport Storm here tonight (Thursday) from 4:30 to 7 PM. He will be pouring their flagship Hurricane Amber Ale…Rhode Island Blueberry…Winter Ale…and the new “Storm of the Season” Sabrina which is a Belgian Style Pale Ale. And if Zach is the outstanding salesman I think he is he will have the new Newport Storm ’11 in the 750 ML cork finish bottle for us to try as well. I just found out from Marc that it is in the house. It sounds pretty cool. If you have a minute, check out their website http://newportstorm.com/beers.php?menid=2 . Being from RI, I’ve always been a big fan of these guys going back to their very 1st luau they have each summer. So please help support the little guys and try some great local beers.

Friday night’s wine tasting (4 to 7 PM) is with Jeff from Hangtime Wholesale. He has a nice lineup of value wines that will be perfect for the Holidays, and leave you enough extra cash for those Christmas presents. He will start with a Sparkling Wine called Made by G. It is a made from Gamay (think Beaujolais) and I remember loving it when I bought it over a year ago. Apparently I didn’t do a good job expressing that to you folks as I’m sitting on most of it still. Next up is a delicious Marlborough, New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc called Sunday Mountain. Shannon Ridge Chardonnay and Petite Sirah will be next, followed by a nice blend from JK Estates called Crossfire, and he will end with Sant’ Angelo Negroamaro. As with all our Friday night wine tastings, we will take 10 % off any wines you sample that night.

Be sure to check out our new display in the front vestibule that Kathy designed. Not a bad Christmas display for a Jewish girl. Check out our liquor gift sets and small nip and beer baskets that Marianne and Val made up. These make great grab gifts and are very reasonably priced. We can also make wine baskets, or any other basket you would like with a couple day’s notice.

Good to see Big Papi coming back (even though I’m a Pirate fan next year). And what’s with all this Rondo trade talk? I don’t get that at all. At least the Pats and Bruins are still playing well. Have a great weekend and we’ll see you all soon.

Robert
