5th Annual Kick Off Beer Tasting

Welcome to Cork’s 5th Annual Kick-Off beer tasting newsletter. The big event is just 2 days away on Saturday, September 12th from 2:30 to 5 PM. We will have 15 tables and over 80 beers for you to sample!! Josh did a great job putting this lineup together and there are a ton of new, hot beers being sampled for the 1st time ever here at Cork’s. Here is a quick rundown on the Breweries represented and we will have the complete list to look at, or download on the website (corksfinewine.com). Gritty’s…Fisherman’s…Saranac…Mendocino…Left Hand…Troegs…Wachusett…Brooklyn…Pizza Port…Pretty Things…High & Mighty…Mayflower…Woodchuck…Magic Hat…Southern Tier…Cisco…Ipswich…Long Trail…Guinness…Opa-Opa…Sierra Nevada…Bacardi Silver…Leinenkugel…and Sam Adams…sounds like a yummy lineup to me!!

For those new to the tastings, and perhaps those who need a refresher course, here are a few rules and tips to make it more fun.

-You can bring your favorite beer glass if you like…but no...we will not top off your pint glass with your “favorite” beer that you find…this is a tasting, after all, not a keg party!
-You will get a sheet at the door with a complete list of the tables, and beers you will find on them. There will be a # on the upper left side and this will be your # for the day.
-When you find a beer you like…and trust me, you’ll find plenty!...just tell the rep/supermodel and they will slap your # on that beer. We will have runners (or stumblers depending on how much beer we drink) scoop up your brew and bring it to the front and start a box for you.
-At the end of the tasting just go to the front and let the cashier know what # you are and we will have your beers ready for you.
-There will be plenty of food to snack on in between brews, including our famous Pizza Tyme pizza...just watch out for Tommy Bolini (and a few others...you know who you are!!) so you don’t get trampled when the fresh pies come out.
-Most of all...please drink responsibly and have fun!! This is a great chance to try some new beers and stock up for the start of the football season and the Pats quest for the Super Bowl which begins Monday night.

We won’t have a wine tasting this Friday as we set up the store and tables for Saturdays big beer tasting. But if you want me to crack a bottle of vino and help set up tables by all means, stop by. One last thing before we go. We have the new limited edition Absolut Boston in the 1 liter bottle now in stock. It is a mix of elderflower and black tea and has a “green monster “theme to it. While supplies last we will give a free bottle of Sauvignyoooouuuuk Blanc to anybody who purchases an Absolut Boston. I admit, this is quite possibly the worst wine I have ever tried…Youk is awesome, and the proceeds do go to some great charities…right George?!?

It should be a great weekend as the Sox look to make a run at the wild card, and the Seymoreless pats look to make a Super Bowl run of their own. I’m not a fan of the trade myself, but with Brady back and our faith in Bill, I think that we will have a great season. I hope to see you all this Saturday as we kick-off the football season!!

Robert
