Welcome to Cork’s weekly newsletter. Well, I think it’s time to stick a fork in the Redsox…they are done. Even if they make the playoffs (which I don’t think they will), they will get smoked in the 1st round by Detroit or Texas. They just have too many injuries and not enough pitching. At least we have the Pats looking to go 3-0 on the road up in Buffalo this week. And the Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins take to the ice in their exhibition opener tonight.
As far as Cork’s stuff happening, we have both a wine and beer tasting this week, and don’t forget we are only 10 days away from our 1st ever Corktoberfest Beer tasting. Save the date…Saturday October 1st from 2 to 5 PM.
This week’s beer tasting (Thursday from 4:30 to 7) has our friend Miguel sampling our “Beer of the Month” Victory Variety Packs. This mix 12-pack has a mix of Prima Pils, Hop Devil IPA, and Golden Monkey Tripel. A little unusual to only have 3 different beers in the mix-12 pack, but from what I remember about them, they are quite good. And as we have been doing all month, we will continue with the rock bottom sale price of $14.99. And don’t forget to pick up your free Victory pint glass with your purchase.
Friday night’s wine tasting from 4 to 7 marks the return of the Tommy Bolini show, South African edition! He will start the night off with the newest wine from Sutter Home, Bubbly Moscato. Then we head off to South Africa for Porcupine Ridge Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah. I’m sure Tom will beguile us with stories of Boekenhoutskloof porcupines. If not porcupines then surely he will spin tails of Goats do Roam as we taste their White and Red Blends. And what South African tasting would be complete without my favorite varietal Pinotage, as he ends with the La Capra version of that delicious varietal presented by Fairview. As with all our Friday night wine tastings we will take 10 % off and wines you sample that evening.
