A soggy journey to fall...and Corktoberfest!!!

Welcome to Cork’s soggy newsletter. I hope you all had a good Labor Day weekend because we are sure making up for it with this crappy weather the last few days. At least we have the Pats opener to look forward to, even if we do have to wait until Monday night for it. Let’s hope the Sox can rest up and get healthy as they limp into the playoffs. Speaking of the Redsox, we just got a new wine in made by Bill “Spaceman” Lee. I saw Bill a couple years back at 1 of the fall wine shows in Boston. He was as red nosed as Rudolf and spinning tales of baseball past, and taking pictures with anybody who asked. Of course I had to get a pic with him, and as we were posing I asked him what his favorite wine was and he said Syrahz (kind of a mix of Shiraz and Syrah) and that he’d be bottling one in the near future. Well it’s here and it’s not a wine for the faint hearted. It is a mix of Syrah, Zinfandel, and Petite Sirah. It’s not cheap either at $21.99 but we will feature it on our “Whiteboard Specials” for $19.99 for a couple of weeks.

Since the weather is so crappy and Marc just got “back” we don’t have a beer tasting scheduled for tonight. We will definitely line something up for next week and try to roll them out every Thursday in the fall, and right through the end of the year. We are always open to Customer Beer tastings as well. Our friend Donnie has done a couple…who’s next?? We asked Miguel to make signs for our 1st Annual Oktoberfest Beer tasting which is Saturday, October 1st from 2 to 5 PM. He did a great job on them and even took it a step further calling it Corktoberfest on the signs. So now that I’ve given him credit I’m stealing it and will use it in future e-mails and on the website. So be sure to check www.corksfinewine.com often for Corktoberfest updates and lineups.

Our good friend Marcus will be back this Friday night from 4:30 to 7 pouring some new wines from Sun Wholesale. He will have the new, delicious wines from Teira Winery in the Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma. I tried these wines a few weeks ago and they are outstanding. He will have their Sauvignon Blanc (which Dry Creek Sauv. Blanc is really the only California SB I like). Next up is their Merlot followed by their award winning Zinfandel. He will also have 2 wines from Le Grand Noir, Chardonnay and GSM (Grenache/Syrah/Mourvedre). He will end the tasting with the hottest varietal out there, Luccio Moscato D’Asti. As with all our Friday night wine tastings we will take 10% off any wines you sample that evening.
