Happy Labor Day weekend...and lessons from Irene

Welcome to Cork’s weekly newsletter. I hope everybody survived Irene and has their power back. I was out for 2 days and the novelty wears off quickly. I think most of Foxboro is still out except for Gillette thanks to Krafty Bob. For those still looking for ice, we got loaded up today and have a full freezer right now. While we’re ranting about power outages…OMG People…do you know what you’re supposed to do when a traffic light is out of service?!? Well most of the knuckleheads I ran in to (figuratively not literally, thankfully) just had their head down and blasted through it, like it never existed. You’re supposed to treat it as a 4 way stop…STOP…make eye contact with anybody else at the intersection…the person who arrives 1st has the right of way…if you were there at the same time, the person to the right has the right of way. It’s really not all that complicated…is it?

OK enough of the Irene ranting let’s talk about what’s going on here at Cork’s. As this e-mail is going out late in the day on Thursday, and Marc is not here this week, there will be no beer tasting. We’ll line something up for next week and don’t forget about our 1st ever Oktoberfest Beer Tasting. It is 1 month away on October 1st from 2 to 5 PM. We will have tons of Fall Seasonal Beers…Pumpkin Beers…and of course Oktoberfest beers. We will also be doing the Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce Oktoberfest which is on Tuesday the 4th of October.

We have a special wine tasting on Friday night from 4 to 7 PM. We will have a supermodel sampling you on the Beringer Founder’s Estate family of wines. She will have Riesling…Pinot Grigio…Chardonnay…Pinot Noir…Merlot… and Cabernet. She will also have some golf balls…wine openers...and other stuff to give away or raffle off. Beringer is the official wine sponsor of the Deutsche Bank Golf tournament at the TPC in Norton (I bet they’ve had power all week too). We’ve also had tickets for the early rounds of the tournament that we have been giving out. We do still have 2 more for Friday’s 1st round. 1st one in who buys a bottle of Beringer Founders Estate they are yours!

This should be a great weekend with the golf next door…The Sox finishing up with the Yankees tonight and taking on the reigning AL Champs the Rangers…and the Pats wrapping up their pre-season against the Giants in Foxboro tonight. And of course all those last BBQ’s…picnics…and beach day’s before the Summer unofficially ends on Monday. We will be open from 10 to 5 on Monday, Labor Day for your shopping convenience. Have a great long holiday weekend everybody. YAY ELECTRICITY HOW WE LOVE THEE !!
